2024 NRPA Annual Conference Recap

The Sportsman team had the amazing opportunity this October to visit Atlanta, GA for NRPA’s Annual Conference. We had a fantastic time showing off Sportsman Web, exploring the city, eating good food, spending time with some of our amazing clients, and rubbing elbows with so many parks and recreation professionals. We thought we’d share a recap of our trip for any who weren’t able to make it this year.

Day One: Travel

Travel day isn’t necessarily anybody’s favorite. However, the airplane pretzels were an unexpected treat, and my new friend and row-buddy snagged extra and shared. Airport food included a bison burger, a black bean burger, and a salmon burger. Not sure why we all thought we should try a different patty, but we did. I’m still not sure what this landscape is doing in the Denver airport, but it looked cool and I liked it.

As far as travel days go, this one was a winner.

Day Two: Set-Up and a Tour of Atlanta

We started the day by setting up our booth at the Georgia World Congress Center which is a really cool building, and I now know that floor 1 is actually underground and requires two different elevators to get to. You’d never know it from being on the show floor though.

Two very sweet clients and friends invited me along with them for a tour of Atlanta and the three of us promptly became the best informed tourists Atlanta has ever seen.

We spent the rest of the trip peppering our coworkers with tidbits of information about the traveling Ferris wheel, the stadium built to resemble a bird’s nest, the train tracks turned parkway, the Olympic village turned dorm rooms, the cemetery that hosts events like a 5K called Run Like Hell and so much more. Our tour guide recommended a great barbecue restaurant that we checked out that night. Great food to cap off a great day!

Day Three: NRPA Annual Conference

We spent the day showing off our top-notch parks and recreation software, and talking about all of the ways Sportsman helps parks and recreation organizations serve their communities. The show floor was busy and we got to talk to tons of cool people.

We ended the day with food, drinks, and some very big laughs with clients and friends. The Sportsman Software community is pretty great.

Day Four: NRPA Conference Day Two and Home

Our final day in Atlanta we got to spend more quality time showing off Sportsman, talking all things recreation, and visiting with existing clients and soon to be clients. Shoutout to Amy from Tuscaloosa who won our $100 Visa gift card drawing. We’re grateful to all those who stopped by the booth and spent time with us.

The NRPA Annual Conference is an event we look forward to every year, and we came home more excited than ever to be a part of such a great industry.
